Ayurveda, loosely translated as the science of life, is the health system of India. This ancient, holistic philosophy explores the unique root causes of dis-ease, and works to achieve overall balance in the physical body, the mind, the soul and the senses.
While Western medicine treats acute ailments and disease, Ayurveda focuses on the individual as a whole and is the ideal preventive medicine. The human mind, body and spirit operate with the same energy and rhythm as the natural world. Ayurvedic principles aim to work along with this natural current to prevent the imbalances that cause illness.
The human body is comprised of five elements: space (ether), air, fire, water and earth. These five elements work in various combination to create three mind-body constitutions - or doshas. When doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, are in balance, individuals will experience proper digestion and circulation, clear mind, and a general sense of well being.
Following a comprehensive evaluation, which includes determining your dominant dosha (mind-body constitution), your Pryority Ayurvedic practitioner will create an individualized plan including recommendations for diet, exercise, lifestyle and self-care behavior to help you achieve center, balance and optimal wellness.
